February 11 Didsbury
For those who were not able to make it to the conference or for those who wish to refresh their memories we have got some video of the speakers:
Janet Batsleer, Youth and Community Work Section, Manchester Metropolitan University welcomed us all to the conference.
Tony Taylor, from the Campaign, gave us some context and outlined the day.
Sue Robertson spoke on Young Peoples’ Space: Super Centres versus Local Provision
Don McDonald spoke on Youth Work and Integrated Youth Support Services
Tania de St. Croix spoke on The Surveillance and Policing of Young People
Sarah Banks spoke on Campaigning Network or Embryo Association
Doug Nicholls from the Union Unite spoke on Fighting the Cuts: Defending Jobs and Services
Bernard Davies spoke on Building Our Case: Telling Our Own Stories
Serious thanks to Justin Wyllie for both filming and sorting out these videos, which do give a feel for the conference proceedings or at least the platform contributions From my point of view it’s a touch embarrassing to catch me knocking off the years as I try to pretend I’m but a youth really. In fact it was thirty not twenty years ago that Clare Short took me aside in Manchester Town Hall! Time does fly! But the struggle continues.
